Kay Bell is the author of the poetry chapbook, Cry Sweat Bleed Write (Lily Poetry Review Books, 2020). She earned a B.A. in English and M.F.A. in Creative Writing at The City College of New York, where she also served as a poetry mentor for the Poetry Outreach program. For Kay, the interconnection between the student’s own knowledge, culture, learning abilities and the subject at hand is vital in the classroom. Its significance lies in its ability to inspire students to become critical thinkers and make important connections between writing, other disciplines and what happens outside the classroom. Kay considers herself to be a bibliophile and is passionate about bringing the arts back into public schools and issues that affect marginalized communities.
